When Mr. Andrews asked Noah Acevedo, class of 2026, his thoughts on AP classes, here is what he shared:
AP World History
- Learning focus: memorization, identifying patterns, cause and effect, continuity and change nteresting, follows history from 1250 CE to the present
- Explains the lingering effects of the past today, such as through Africa and its colonial history
- Easier class since it is broad in content, not as specific with dates and time periods (big picture)
- Notes often but are simple and engaging: not much work other than that
- Tests are medium difficulty
- Love this class
AP US History
- Learning focus: Memorization, identifying patterns, cause and effect, continuity and change
- Follows the interesting history of America, dating back to the 16th century with major indigenous groups and empires who were colonized to create what we know today as the United States
- Very fun and interesting since it is relevant and explains heavily the current situation of the United States
- Heavy key concept packets which contain large ideas and important vocabulary terms, but can be broken up daily to a few terms that makes it much more manageable
- Tests can be challenging but are easy if study for it (very little you cannot study for)
- Love this class
AP Biology
- Memorization, patterns
- Very interesting and fun (explains many integral processes of life
- Ranges from individual cells and elements essential to life to population interactions (very fun topics, well picked)
- Workload is on the higher side but is manageable, Mesinas is willing to work with you especially if you put in effort and clearly want to succeed
- Awesome class. Heavily recommend, teaches how to study and how to take science ap classes and lab reports
- Tests can be challenging and conceptual
AP Chemistry
- Less memorization, more practice and logically reasoning
- For instance, one concept early in the course explains several more (coulombs law)
- Very interesting and fun, ranges from atomic interactions to molecules and reactions
- Tests can be challenging and conceptual
- Awesome class
AP Calculus
- Explains lots of physics concepts (makes math USEFUL)
- Dynamic math, very fun
- Transforms math from random numbers to logic our real world
- Roughly one hour of work on most nights
- Sharp offers help and good teaching if u are willing
AP Computer Science Principles
- Interesting class as intro to computer science
- No computer science pre-knowledge needed
- Minimal workload, no homework if focused in class
AP English Language and Composition
- Fun class with debates about the current world’s rhetoric and of old
- Some essays, but are manageable and teachers are willing to help
- Fun class, workload is not necessarily heavy
- Recommend
AP English Literature and Composition
- Interesting class, similar to English comp
- Multiple choice questions can be difficult, essays are fun but can be done through reasoning (anything can be the answer!)
- Fun class that goes beyond curriculum
- Literature picks are fun, interesting, and deep
AP Government
- Fun class that is relevant today
- Easy workload
- Not a difficult class at all, minimal study required
- lectures
AP Macroeconomics
- Interesting class
- Not very difficult class, can be a nuisance in difficult at times but no where near the difficulty of APs such as Chemistry, Biology, Calculus, Physics, e.t.c.
- Workload is similar to government (same teacher)
- lectures
