Transitioning from middle school to high school can be difficult. The idea of being exposed to a new unknown experience is terrifying. With the help of Link Crew, the terrifying feeling is gone. Link crew is also a yearlong program that contributes to character development and understanding the impact of one’s actions and behavioral conduct. As well as it is a junior and senior freshman mentoring program. Besides contributing to behavioral and character development, Link Crew also helps freshmen discover what is needed to succeed in High school.

To join Link Crew an application must be filled out. Applicants must later commit to attend summer training and freshmen orientation. The summer training consists of getting to know the whole Link crew and team-building activities. During the freshmen orientation Link Crew leaders will have a roster with freshmen names. With the freshmen in small groups, Link Crew leaders will commence the campus tour and team-building activities. As the school year begins, link crew leaders will have new activities for freshmen. For instance, setting smart goals for the year, preparing for final exams, and informing freshman of upcoming school activities.

Becoming a Link Crew leader has been one of the best choices that I have ever made. Through this program, I was able to develop better social and leadership skills. Link Crew also allowed me to make new friends and get out of my comfort zone. Although initially, I was a bit hesitant about joining, the idea of helping future high school students and link crew leaders convinced me to join.
