Pomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS)

Pomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS) is another amazing opportunity for excellent students to get ready for college.  The program supports competitive students in preparation for and applications to highly competitive colleges and universities.

Applicants must be in 9th grade and demonstrate dedication to academics through course selection and outstanding grades.

The applications open November 9. 2018 and are due February 22, 2019.

PAYS is a three-year program that includes:

• A 4-week, on-campus institute where students work with Pomona College faculty to study core subjects
• Year-round academic enrichment and application assistance
• A 12th grade research project with Pomona College faculty
• Year-round social events

The Pomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS) enrolls up to 90 local high school students and seeks to support them in preparing for admission to selective and highly selective colleges and universities.  PAYS participants engage in a thought-provoking combination of courses, cultural events, workshops, projects and field trips during the intensive 4-week, residential program as well as throughout the academic year.  PAYS serves rising sophomores through rising seniors from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education—students who are first in their family to attend college; from low income families; and are African American, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, and/or part of other underrepresented racial or ethnic groups.
